Foodaholic Gold Energy Hydrogel Mask Review

Hello again Sanseoulites! While it has been awhile I promise I have missed each and every one of you a great deal. After taking a brief hiatus I am ready to get back to work and share my insights. After discovering a new site to order k-beauty products from I knew I had to try them out. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised.

The Website : Skin 18

They are currently running a promotion for FREE MASKS!!! All you have to do is pay shipping. Just make sure to follow the rules on their page. You can only get 1 of each type of mask. Check them out here.

I ordered an assortment of 15 masks for only $10! I had sticker shock when I went to check out. LOL The package arrived within two weeks which is pretty standard. It came from Hong Kong & had a low value which I know my international friends appreciate.

All the goods from Skin18.

All the goods from Skin18.

After I received these it took me awhile to decide which one I wanted to try first. The lucky winner was the Gold Energy Hydrogel Mask because duh GOLD!! Part of me was curious to try this just because of the brand name Foodaholic.

My Experience:

gold hydrogel mask

Doesn’t that look pretty? I took the mask out of the package & was amazed by how bright the gold looked. When I removed the paper backing I realized that this mask came in two pieces. The only other time I had ever used hydrogel was with eye patches so I figured it would be a similar experience as far as texture & moisture were concerned. Placing two slick mask pieces proved to be more of a challenge than I was expecting.

Gold mask

The gold looked very translucent once applied & as you can see I had some gaps around my eyes, but at least it stayed in place. I took this off after 40 minutes & even then it still felt extremely moist. I think this is a mask I could have slept in. It did have a slight sticky feeling, but once I let the remaining essence soak in I noticed that it went away.

My overall thoughts:

I was very pleased with this site & the mask. I noticed immediate results. My skin can sometimes dwell on the oily & dehydrated side so to see my face looking plump & radiant…well all I can say is OMG! I was doing a little happy dance on the inside. In the future I plan on reordering from Skin18. Just remember that even though they are offering these freebies; let’s show them some love & buy a few other items as well.

If anyone has tried any other hydrogel mask that you loved then let me know in the comments below. I’m always looking for new beauty products to try out.

Until next time my dears,

June 2015 Empties

Well it looks like I am finally able to get around to writing this post so I can share my June empties with everyone. I wanted to start doing this for a few reasons.

1) I constantly receive questions about what I am using or if I like a certain product.

2) I wanted to create a board for products I have used. I am a fan of Pinterest for this option since I am a VERY visual person. Come with me to the dark side; I have cookies.

3) Finishing a product gives me time to decide if I love it, like it, or hate it!

Now onto the good stuff. DRUMROLL PLEASE!!!!!

June 2015 empties

I know a few of you are looking at this photo & wondering how a Lush product ended up in the mix. It’s Okay!

I just love to try products from all over the world (including the United States).

Lush Cosmetics Breath of Fresh Air Toner Water

Lush toner

Lush is a company that specializes in all natural ingredients & is known for taking a stand against animal testing. That’s a win in my book. They even provide a label that shows who made the product & when it was done. I bought this while I was waiting for another toner to arrive from South Korea. I did not want the typical Western toner that is full of alcohol so I searched for products that would be kind to my face. The smell is very herbal, but not completely overpowering.

***WARNING***  It has an extremely thick consistency for something that is meant to be sprayed directly on your face. I jumped a mile the first time I tried it. After that I switched to the cotton ball method & my face loved me for it.

Lush breath of fresh air tonerSee the label I mentioned? As excited as I was to see a personal touch I was really creeped out by a random face staring at me. Had to turn the poor guy around.

As much as I liked the toner I don’t think I will repurchase. There is nothing wrong with the product, but in a nature versus science type of world my skin gravitates towards science. I think I like to mix the best of both worlds.

Shara Shara Green Oasis Lifting Eye Cream

Shara Shara eye cream

I received this eye cream courtesy of Memebox. At one point I was afraid to order anything from them because Shara Shara was in all of their boxes! This is the first eye cream I have used since I switched from Estee’ Lauder. While I loved their products I can’t say my wallet felt the same way.

Using an eye cream makes a huge difference for me. I always joke that I am cute by Asian beauty standards. Aegyo? Check. Eye smile? Check. Unfortunately this also means that my eyes can appear puffy if I am not careful. Shara Shara is on the lower end of the Korean skincare scale, but I still think that it may be better than some of the U.S. drugstore brands. This is another item I would not repurchase, but I would rather use a cheap eye cream than none at all.

Shara Shara  Black Bear Miracle Capsule Cream

Shara Shara Black bear

Look it’s more Shara Shara! This is from the Memebox X Soothing Sista collaboration. I really liked this box so I decided to give this cream a chance. Even though it says cream it is a clear lightweight gel so don’t let the name fool you. Since I live in a hot & humid climate this product didn’t leave my skin feeling sticky or like I was walking around with a mask. I was able to use this product twice a day without any issues. I would definitely repurchase again in the future.

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil

The Face Shop Rice cleansing oil

This is a repeat purchase for me so obviously I love it. I was drawn to this as soon as I saw the word rice. LOL I used this as part of the double cleansing method. It is amazing with make up removal. At first it seemed very strange to put oil on my face, but once I saw the results I was sold. It’s such a gentle way to remove make up, dirt, oil, etc. that I really dislike harsh foam cleansers. I will more than likely repurchase this in the future. I also love the fact that The Face Shop has stores here in Texas so I can visit in person. All in all it wasn’t a bad month. I would repurchase two out of four products.

Have you tried any of these products yet? Which one is your favorite?

Mishibox Review June 2015

After waiting what felt like an eternity Mishibox has finally launched! I was so excited to see what their first box contained. In an industry that is currently oversaturated with beauty boxes it makes it hard to stand out from the crowd. Many have tried and ultimately failed so I chose to remain cautiously optimistic. Just a reminder that if you signed up for the June box it did NOT automatically renew you for the July box. You must sign up again to start monthly service. You can do so here.

What is Mishibox?

Mishibox is a monthly Korean beauty box subscription. They currently only ship to customers within the United States.

How much does it cost?

If you sign up for the July box you can lock in the rate of $18.95 per month. Starting in August the price will increase to $19.95 per month. All prices include free shipping!

What will be included?

4-6 Beauty products consisting of full size & samples.

Information card (directions) will be in English.

Ingredient list will be available on the website after they are translated.

The Unboxing

mishibox june 2015

I love that this came in a pink box. I typically love all things girly.

mishibox 2015

Everything arrived packed in tissue paper & paper scraps. I thought it was a cost efficient way to ship items. The products appeared to be dusty at first, but that is just the result of the packaging. Wipe them off & they are perfectly fine.

THE GOODS!!!! So excited to see 3 full size items in their first box.

The Products

Banila Co. Cleanse It Zero

I actually just received my second order of this cleansing balm because I love it so much. Samples are nice when I am traveling or waiting for replacements to arrive. This goes in the win category for me.

Benton Honest Cleansing Foam

Benton has been on my must try list for awhile. I have a few other samples as well so now I have a complete line to try out. I know the Ph is high, but I am hoping that the Cosrx AHA/BHA toner I recently purchased will return my skin to the Ph level it needs to be.

Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack

Benton snail bee mask pack

I am usually excited to receive sheet mask, but I am currently on the fence about this one. I love any product that contains snail, but I am hoping that I will not have any sensitivity issues to the “bee” portion. I will let you all know later if I loved it or if my face turned into a tomato. I have seen countless bloggers highly recommend this mask so fingers crossed!

Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel

Holika Holika Aloe 99% soothing gel

Be still my beating heart. Since I am from Texas aloe & I have been longtime friends. The weather here is hot & humid a good portion of the year so this is a blessing. I will use aloe from head to toe. So much win Mishibox!!!

Holika Holika Jewel Light Waterproof Eyeliner (assorted colors)

holika holika jewel swatches

I received color 01 (black jam). Let’s be honest here okay. It’s an eyeliner. Super exciting I know. On the plus side I can actually use this color so thank you basic black. I tend to view these as filler items for subscription boxes. I don’t mind a makeup item every now & then, but I hope it is not a monthly occurrence.

Skylake Oriental Herb Cool Shampoo

skylake oriental herb cool shampoo

This caught my eye. My poor hair is hating the heat & even my beloved coconut oil is not doing the trick. My hair is a wavy frizzy hot mess! All I can say is thank God for buns. This shampoo has a strong smell; it’s almost like a stateside tea tree one I am quite fond of. I am honestly excited to try this out. With my luck I will fall in love & my wallet will cry, but I will cross that bridge later.

Overall Thoughts

I thought this was a solid first box from a new company. Good job Mishibox! I think this box will be a great choice for those who are new to Korean beauty products & those of us who are on a budget. What really impressed me was how they have responded to the feedback they have received. They sent out emails with surveys attached that allowed us to pick the amount of Ph in our cleansers (high, low, or doesn’t matter).

The fact that they even acknowledged the feedback they received scored HUGE points with me. To create a survey & attempt to make everyone happy, within reason of course, shows that they are willing to go above & beyond for their customers. Now I am understanding of the fact that they are new & I’m sure they already have products that they need to send out, but in the future I can see them catering to their customer base on a more personal level. If you haven’t already done so make sure to go sign up with Mishibox  so you can join in on the fun too!

Until next time my dear SanSeoulites.

The Lipstick Tag

Hello again SanSeoulites! I am finally back to having a small amount of free time so I can share my super awesome blog posts with you all. I was tagged in this post by Chubbychicsdiary and I absolutely L-O-V-E her blog. It’s almost like having a penpal. Yes, I am showing my age here. Who doesn’t remember having one in school & being so excited to learn about someone else’s life? Now onto the fun part.

The Rules
1.TAG 3 bloggers to answer these same questions.
2.Those bloggers will TAG 3 more bloggers of their choice with the same questions & rules.
3.No tag backs

The Questions

1. How many lipsticks do you own?

I have 17. It’s such a small collection, but even then it is taking forever to make my way through this stash.

2. What was your first ever lipstick?

When I was younger my first was the drugstore brand NYX. As I got older my first fancy lippie was from Estee Lauder. My wallet may have cried as a teenager, but I felt luxurious. (Sidenote: I grew up in a small town and there was no such thing as Sephora or MAC. *gasp*)

3. What is your most worn lipstick?

On a daily basis when I am in a rush I usually reach for one of my Tarte lipsticks if I am going for a nude or natural color. If I am feeling more adventureous then I usually gravitate towards Memebox.

4. What is your favorite brand for lipsticks?

I love my MAC lipstick so much that I don’t want to use it. I discovered it when I had my make-up done for graduation & I fell in love.

5. What is your favorite finish?

I love glossy, but I think my hubby makes it a mission to remove it from my lips so I usually just stick with matte.

6. What is the last lipstick you bought?

The last one I received was Vivito from the Soothing Sista X Memebox collaboration when I lucked out during a restock party so it has been a few months.

7. How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?

I usually carry whatever lipstick I’m currently wearing or my lip balm from Banila Co.

8. What lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?

I alternate between two. The first is from Etude House and you can catch the review I did here. The second is from Memebox. I was actually very surprised at the quality when I received these. They have a smooth application and are pretty long lasting.

9. How do you store your lipsticks?

I have my cute acrylic case & I make it work even though I think it was meant for nail polish.

10. What lip products are you currently lusting over?

I have been wanting to try the Berrisom My Lip Tint Pack. You apply it to your lips, wait, & then peel it off for lasting color! It looks like so much fun.

I hope you all have enjoyed The Lipstick Tag! There are so many people I would choose so with that being said…I nominate everyone reading this!!

NU’EST Concert Experience in Dallas

***This is the first guest post as part of a K-pop Experience series. Please show this new author some love and comment below. If you would like to learn more about Nu’est members you may view a band profile page here***

Written by: Erika R.

After I finally returned home from Dallas, finished homework and had some time off from work I am finally able to write about the Nu’est concert.

A month before the concert, it was announced another Kpop concert was happeneing in Dallas. The first line up of the summer was going to be Nu’est. Now I am not a diehard fan of Nu’est but as a Kpop fan I felt the need to support all Kpop groups coming to Texas. The concert was held by MyMusicTaste at Gilley’s in Dallas’s Downtown area. I purchased my VIP ticket, which included early entry and a meet and greet, and planned my trip. About a week before the concert MyMusicTaste had decided to make the General Admission tickets free to those in line up to 1400 people after VIP ticket holders entered the venue. I expected fans would begin to line up in the early afternoon hoping to get the chance to see Nu’est perform. For those who were there early in line as a special treat Aron passed out water to those waiting in the Texas sun!!! I arrived later to the venue so I missed that excitement. I stood in the VIP line chatting with fans and watching the excitement outside.

Once we were allowed in to the venue, the excitement in the air grew with anticipation. I talked with fans that were squished in front of the stage next to me. They each told me about their love for Nu’est, which member was their Bias and how excited they were to get the chance to see them in concert. Once the lights dimmed and the boys came on stage the atmosphere of the fans intensified. I watched in awe of Nu’est, they sang so well and their dancing was on point. I became a bigger fan as the concert went on, with their interactions with the fans who wouldn’t be? I swear Minhyun and Ren winked and smiled in my direction but who knows who it was really for, let’s just say it was for all of us.

Aron sporting a SpongeBob shirt from a fan. tumblr_inline_mqbyznc0zS1qz4rgp

After the concert the meet and greet included a signing and a picture with the members. First we lined up for the autograph session then went a second time around for the pictures. I took my Re:birth album for them to sign. First was Minhyn then Ren, JR, Aron and Baekho as we went through for signatures. Ren said the most, “I love you” and I think something about cute smile not really sure I was lost in the moment but I do remember him telling my friend she was “so cute!” During my photo with 4 other fans, I stood next to Aron with his arm around me smiled and threw up the peace sigh. It was great, Nu’est was great!

Album sign

Afterwards fans were waiting outside for them to get into their car and leave. My phone had died and I was done for the night so I decided it was time to call it a night. However, I happened to leave the same time as the boy’s vehicles and at the stop light they actually pulled up right next to me with their window down. I could hear them talking but I was too shocked and embarrassed to look over at them. If only my phone hadn’t died or I would have snapped a picture. I was glad I went to see Nu’est, it was a great concert experience and I can’t wait for them to come again.

Fashion Trends For Summer 2015

With Coachella fresh on our minds I wanted to share a few fashion trends for the summer. For many the heat is already here so even though the calendar claims it is only April our hearts say July. While some trends make us ooh & aah others make us exclaim WTF! Either way this summer is sure to be full of fabulous looks.

2015 fashion trends

  1. Monochromatic Outfits

From white on white to denim on denim a single cohesive look has gained popularity. This is a chic and effortless look that has the versatility to be dressed up or minimalistic depending on accessary usage.

Micah Gianneli_Raww blog_White fashion editorial_Windsor Smith_Atumblr_nm4wmjtrqF1s0oj9eo1_500    *source1* source2*

The 2015 Pantone color of the year may be Marsala, but all I see is GOLD. From clothing and accessories to home décor – gold is everywhere. Want a luxurious boost? Grab some gold. I have even seen gold staplers from Target so obviously everyone needs some gold in their lives.

You can get your gold stapler from Target here. 🙂

  1. Tribal Prints

This has been going on for a few years so it’s not exactly new, but it is always fun. A popular look has been solid tops paired with tribal print bottoms. Can’t go on vacation this summer? That’s fine, but it doesn’t mean your clothing can’t be inspired by faraway lands.

tribal printstribal shorts

  1. Kimonos

While this invokes images of the beautiful kimonos from Japan I am talking about an updated and perhaps even westernized versions. Kimonos can vary in length, but are typically worn over shorts or dresses. I think that the kimono is the new cardigan. It’s fresh, fun, and gives a youthful and slightly hippie type of vibe.

  1. Pattern Mixing

Want a look that says “I woke up like this” or “F$#k it”? Well then this look is for you. *Please take note of my sarcasm dear SanSeoulites* 🙂 I think the best part about this look is that there are no rules. Whether you are a fashionista or fashionably challenged absolutely everyone can achieve this look. Pattern on pattern? Great.

What are some of looks you’re hoping to see this summer?

Until next time. XOXO

Would you try the PLACENTA mask sheet???

The word placenta is almost as bad as the word moist. I shudder when I hear it. Ick! Although it’s now 2015 using placenta is not a new beauty or health fad.

Many beauty benefits are believed to be derived from placenta for skincare, but I have yet to see a set standard that the medical and cosmeceutical communities can agree upon. Most of these help fight aging by reducing the appearance of wrinkles, freckles, and blemishes along with a reduction in sagging skin.

I decided to review the 3W Clinic Fresh Placenta Mask Sheet this week because I wanted to see if there would be any noticeable effects.

3W Clinic Placenta mask sheet

3W Clinic Placenta Sheet Mask

1. Wash face.

2. Apply toner.

3. Apply mask sheet.

4. Leave on for 20-30 minutes.

5. Remove mask sheet and lightly pat remaining essence for better absorption.

Roseroseshop has a set of 10 available for $1.84! They currently have 13 different types to chose from.

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Alcohol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polysorbate 60, Cetyl Ethyhexanoate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Allantoin, Hydrolyzed Placenta Protein, Disodium EDTA, Perfume.

Here’s the CosDNA analysis.

Does it contain placenta?

Yes, it contains Hydrolyzed Placenta Protein, but it is so far down the ingredient list that I doubt there is much at all.

What is Hydrolyzed Placenta Protein?

Hydrolyzed :  Break down (a compound) by chemical reaction with water.

Placenta Protein: TLDR version – hormones and other “bad stuff” is removed in order to be used.

My Experience:

I have used other 3W Clinic mask so I did not expect any sort of variation. Here’s what the mask looked like once it was opened.

Placenta sheet mask

I actually thought this mask was going to cover my entire face and neck once I pulled it from the packaging. I was pleasantly surprised to see that once I applied the mask there were no air bubbles so all of my face was covered. The mouth portion was way too big so I had to pull it up, but other than that I had no complaints.

Fast forward thirty minutes later and I remove the mask sheet. It was still very wet, but somehow my face felt sticky. I almost decided to wash my face, but instead I relied on the patting method & allowed it to dry some more. In the end it felt like I had a very thin film resting above my skin.

My Overall Thoughts:

I’m sad to say that I was not impressed with this mask. It was just well…meh. I have used the lemon and the snail from the 3W Clinic series and I liked them so much better. I will probably use the ones I have, but I do not think I will repurchase them. I would give this mask a 2.5 our of 5 stars.

Until next time SanSeoulites,

The 3B Box April 2015 Unboxing

Hello SanSeoulites! I am super excited to tell you about a new subscription box called The 3B Box. 3B stands for beauty beyond borders. I signed up for this box in January and I finally got off the waitlist. Yay! This is a newer Asian skincare company based in the United States that charges $12/month for roughly 4-5 products. Most of the products will be samples, but that is part of the reason they are so inexpensive. They are also in the process of setting up shop to sell full size products so for now we all have to be patient. I highly recommend signing up for their waitlist. They currently only ship within the US, but we can all cross our fingers and hope for international shipping.

The reveal:

The 3b box april 2015

Everything arrived in a pouch which was fine by me because I can always reuse it.

3b box april 2015

This box included a few full size products (I definitely wasn’t expecting that), and after looking at spoilers from others who already received their boxes I realized that some people received the TonyMoly  Aquaporin Moisture foam cleanser while others had the TonyMoly Intense Care Snail foam cleanser.

Here’s the information card that came along with everything.

3B information card

skinfood silicon cleansing pad

tonymoly foam cleanser

Skinfood Silicon Cleansing Pad A popular way to help thoroughly cleanse and exfoliate the skin, this silicon cleansing pad uses tiny bristles to invigorate the skin and clean out pores. Long term use results in a clear and radiant complexion. Apply favorite cleanser to face and use cleansing pad to gently massage skin. Rinse with lukewarm water.

TonyMoly Aquaporin Moisture Foam Cleanser – This Korean micro-foam cleanser effectively clears out deep impurities without stripping skin of its natural moisture. It contains no parabens, mineral oils, benzophenone, or tar color. Apply a small amount onto wet skin and gently massage into a lather. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

I was really happy to get both a foam cleanser and the silicon cleansing pad together. To top it off I was in need of more foam cleanser and this showed up just in time. I can’t wait to try it out. I have used a cleansing pad before stateside, but I haven’t seen them sold as a single item.

Benton aloe soothing gel & bha skin toner

RoseRoseShop has a great deal right now. You can buy both here for only $16.18! Below is what the full size products look like.

Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner – Designed for all skin types, this Benton toner is great for treating troubled skin that is prone to acne, redness, and dryness. Aloe helps soothe and moisturize skin while salicyclic acid exfoliates, reduces sebum, and promotes anti-inflammatory benefits. Snail mucin supports natural cell regeneration and replenishes moisture to increase skin firmness. Apply on skin using cotton pad after cleansing.

Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel – This gel contains 80% aloe and propolis to help soothe irritated skin, fade acne scars, brighten skintone and maintain hydration throughout the day. Apply gel to face and neck after cleansing and toner. Lightly pat into skin for greater absorption.

After discovering the world of AHA and BHA the Benton skincare line has been on my “must try” list. I have heard nothing, but great things about them. Hopefully these will become my holy grail products in the future.

Innisfree Bija Sheet Mask

Innisfree Bija Sheet MaskFormulated with Jejubija (Bija) herbs, this natural mask revitalizes the skin while providing key nutrients. After cleansing apply sheet mask onto face for 10-20 minutes. Upon removing, pat excess product into face for greater absorption.

I am a huge fan on the Innisfree line so I can’t wait to try this sheet mask out. Innisfree is actually having a sale on sheet masks. They are buy 10 get 10 free! Just click on the link above to be transported to sheet mask heaven.

Overall thoughts:

The 3B box has definitely made a great first impression on me. I love everything in this box. You should give it a try too! Sign up here and then be patient. They are continually moving people off of the waitlist so hopefully the wait won’t be too terribly long.

Have you tried any of these products before? Tell me your favorites.
